Questions John 6-7

1. John 6:39 - And this is the will of God, that I should not lose even one of all those he has given me, but that I should raise them up at the last day.

How does God choose?

2. 6:44 - For no one can come to me unless the Father who sent me draws them to me, and at the last day I will raise them up.

Is the last day the end of the world? Since God created us all, why does He draw some and not others? Doesnt He want all His creation in His presence?

3. 6:47 - “I tell you the truth, anyone who believes has eternal life."

What about doubt? If you doubt, how can you truly believe right? So doesnt that mean since everyone has some doubt, (dont they?) then how does one truly believe?

4. 6:58 - I am the true bread that came down from heaven. Anyone who eats this bread will not die as your ancestors did (even though they ate the manna) but will live forever.”

Was the Manna that they ate in the desert Jesus, even before He was crucified?

5. 6:67 Then Jesus turned to the Twelve and asked, “Are you also going to leave?”

Whats the reason He only chose 12? Any symbolism behind it?

6. 6:70 Then Jesus said, “I chose the twelve of you, but one is a devil.”

Why did He choose Judas since He even said but one of you is a devil. Why would he choose him still?

2. 7:30 Then the leaders tried to arrest him; but no one laid a hand on him, because his time had not yet come.

I noticed that in the gospels it states this many times, that His time had no yet come... Where it says no one laid a hand on Him, was this all supernaturally?

Here are some thoughts...

2. You said: "Doesnt He want all His creation in His presence?"

Yes he does: 2 Peter 3:8-10 - 8But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day. 9The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. He is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything in it will be laid bare.

3. I don't think that doubting cancels out the type of belief that this verse is talking about. Have you tried doing a word study on "belief"? To me it seems to be tied to trust & faith. Also, I think that doubting is sin because it's not trusting God and God has commanded us to trust him. But, the bottom line is that Jesus has already paid the price of our sin and made us clean and therefore our salvation is not based on whether or not we perform right for God. That is why I think that this type of belief is talking about trusting Jesus, professing your faith in him, showing that you love him by living for him, etc. but the main thing that it means is believing that Jesus' death and resurrection has made us righteous so that we are now sons and daughters of God and that we are now looking forward to the day when Jesus comes to tell us that the place he has been preparing for us is ready (John 14:1-3).

5. Some might say that the #12 is tied to the 12 tribes of Israel...(Genesis 49:27-29), but I'm not sure. It must have some significance though because "twelve" is mentioned many times in the Bible (http://www.biblegateway.com/keyword/?search=twelve&version1=31&searchtype=all&limit=none&wholewordsonly=no).

7. I'm not 100% sure if it was supernatural, but it does seem to be tied to the fulfillment of prophesies. God is in control, he planned these things out long before they happened. That seems pretty supernatural to me..
